inside folding out: a meditation on space

I desire to live in a cabin in the woods. Somewhere not too cold or damp. But mossy along the forest floor. Or along some rolling hills, with grassy fields and mountain views. A place near dark blue waters that stretch across the horizon, where I can see the sky. Somewhere nothing is asking to be bought, where the things around me aren’t formed by human minds.
I want more stillness. I want my movements to cut through the stillness, and then for the wind to close it back up, rippling across the grasses. I want to be able to enter the space without worrying about there being enough room for me.
For now, I must find that space internally. Insides folding out. Inside... out.
My breath will be the wind. My hair the grass. My knees and elbows the mountains. The moss will be the softness of my socks. And I will still have a sliver of sky peaking through as I look up. Those clouds tell me to have patience, not to forget my surroundings, to indulge in the small tastes of nature, for they are not to be ignored.
Whether you’re cramped in physical space or you are feeling emotionally or situationally trapped in the routine, remember that within your body - between your cells, throughout your atoms - you are 99% space (crazy right???). Nature makes it easier to find this space from the outside looking in, but many times we must act on our own to recognize this space for ourselves - inside out.
